Diamond Aircraft is pleased to announce that Phoenix East Aviation, Inc. of Daytona Beach, Florida, has selected the DA42 NG for its multi-engine training fleet.
With an initial order of two DA42 NGs, Phoenix East Aviation also plans to upgrade their existing DA42 TDIs with Austro Engine AE 300 powerplants and will eventually migrate their entire multi-engine fleet to the DA42 NG. Ghassan Reslan, CEO of Phoenix East, will accept delivery of their first DA42 NG this week at AOPA Summit.
“The Diamond DA42 NG offers our students, who are pursuing professional pilot careers, the most advanced multi-engine training platform in the industry,” said Mr. Reslan. “With the DA42 NG’s state-of-the-art engines, airframe, and avionics technologies, our students will be well prepared for careers as jet pilots.”
With an all-carbon airframe and FADEC controlled, single power lever, twin turbo-diesel Austro AE 300 engines, along with the Garmin G1000 integrated glass cockpit including the GFC 700 Automated Flight Control System and Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT), the DA42 NG is general aviation’s safest and most technologically advanced light twin.
“With the introduction of the DA42 NG, Diamond Aircraft is pleased to expand its relationship with Phoenix East Aviation,” said David Moser, Director of Fleet Sales for Diamond Aircraft. “With unprecedented fuel economy, stellar performance, and exceptional reliability, we are confident that Phoenix East will be thrilled with their selection of the DA42 NG.”

Daytona Beach, Florida, USA –- Phoenix East Aviation (PEA) announces approval by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for F-1 Visa form authorization for international pilot training students.

F-1 student visas now available through Phoenix East Aviation

The F-1 Visa (Academic Student) allows a foreign student to enter the United States as a full-time student at a U.S. government approved academic institution. This visa also requires the student to be enrolled in a program that culminates in a professional certificate or college degree; because Phoenix East Aviation is a nationally accredited pilot training academy with established qualifications and high standards of education, authorization was given by the U.S. government to accept eligible international students under this F-1 program. There are only three professional pilot training academies in the U.S. that are allowed by the federal government to participate in the F-1 student visa program.

In this program, the student pilot enters a comprehensive professional pilot training program. This “ab initio” student begins with zero flying experience and progresses through the program, achieving the Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument and Multi-engine Ratings – and then continues training for the Certified Flight Instructor, Certified Flight Instructor Instrument, and Multi-engine Instructor ratings.

Upon successful completion of this full training program, a PEA graduate may interview for a position as a PEA flight instructor and upon acceptance become a paid employee of Phoenix East Aviation, gaining practical flight experience as he/she continues building flight hours and acquiring the skills required to achieve the Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, which is the highest aviation certification given by the FAA. The F-1 Visa, under its Optional Practical Training, allows such employment during this advanced training and time-building phase.

The young Norwegian women sit side-by-side in the flight simulator. Kristin Klette, 21, performs first-officer duties as Annette Eriksen, 22, “pilots” the aircraft down the runway and around the realistic-looking airfield for several minutes before bringing it in for a landing.

norwegian students in daytona

The two women are among about 100 flight students from Norway who are training at Phoenix East Aviation in Daytona Beach to become airline pilots. The group arrived in October and should receive certification in October 2010, Eriksen said.

“We like the weather here,” Klette said. “It was like, minus 10 degrees in Norway” when they went home for the holidays.

During their extended stay in this area, Eriksen and Klette are renting an apartment in Port Orange. Like the others from their homeland, they’re buying groceries, paying for entertainment and generally giving a boost to the local economy.

Ghassan Reslan, chief executive of Phoenix East, said this is the fifth or sixth year the school has brought students here from Norway. About 20 students from Belgium and 150 or so from other nations are training alongside the Norwegians.

Students who complete the courses get certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, Reslan said. European students can convert the FAA certification into a similar certification from the Joint Aviation Authority, which was created in the early 1990s to unify aviation-related regulations within the European Union. Eriksen, Klette and their fellow countrymen are here under a partnership with a JAA flight school in Oslo, Norway, Reslan said.

Phoenix East Aviation, Inc. (PEA) announces a new institutional grant available for U.S. military veterans for professional flight training.

Career flight training is a covered benefit under the Montgomery GI Bill; the new Phoenix East Aviation grant, called the Patriot Institutional Grant, is designed to express appreciation to veterans who wish a career as a professional pilot. This grant will further reduce the veteran’s pilot training costs. The Phoenix East Aviation Patriot Grant will contribute 5% toward the training tuition. It is available to U.S. veterans who qualify for education benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill.

Phoenix East Aviation’s professional flight training programs are approved for reimbursement under Department of Veteran Affairs for veterans eligible for GI Bill educational benefits. To qualify for such benefits, the veteran must have a private pilot’s license and valid medical certification before beginning a reimbursable pilot training program. The Dept. of Veteran Affairs will reimburse the veteran up to 60% of the approved training charges up to the maximum allowable. The PEA Patriot Grant will further reduce training costs by over $1,500 for a Multi-Engine Commercial/Instrument Course.

Phoenix East Aviation Chief Executive Officer, Ghassan Reslan, said “We are proud to help veterans with career training in aviation with the Patriot Grant. We hope that it will allow more veterans to become professional pilots. It’s just our way of saying ‘thank you’ for the service and sacrifices of these superb young men and women. It has been our experience that military veterans demonstrate focus, discipline and responsibility – great attributes for the professional pilot.”

Phoenix East Aviation, Inc. provides comprehensive pilot training, specializing in professional flight instruction. FAR Part 141, private, commercial and multi-engine professional programs and FAR Part 61 courses are offered. The school is nationally accredited and is approved to offer Veteran Benefits under the G.I. Bill. Headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida, where the climate permits flight operations 350+ days a year, the school has been in continuous operation since 1972.

Daytona Beach, Florida, USA –- Phoenix East Aviation, Inc. (PEA), a professional flight training academy in Daytona Beach, Florida, has announced placement of an order for two new Cessna Citation Mustang aircraft. The Mustang is the new, highly sought-after twin-engine business jet by Cessna. These new Mustangs will join Phoenix East’s fleet of Diamond DA-42, Piper PA-34, Cessna C-172SP, and Decathlon 8KCAB aircraft.

The Model 510 is in the “very light jet” (VLJ) class of business jets; however, it is not a typical VLJ, as it is certified to the same jet standards as the CJ series and its design is based on Cessna’s extensive experience with larger jets. It is also certified for single pilot operations for U.S. registered aircraft.

The Mustang is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW615F turbofan engines. The aircraft has retractable tricycle landing gear and a T-tail. A pressurized cabin accommodates a crew of two and up to four passengers in club seating arrangement. With a speed of 340 KTAS (630 km/hr or 391 mph), the Mustang is faster than oldtechnology turboprops requires only a 3,110 ft takeoff runway length and 2,390 ft landing runway length. The maximum altitude is 41,000 ft (12,497 m) with a range of 1,150 nm. Many of Phoenix East Aviation’s training aircraft are equipped with Garmin G1000 integrated avionics systems, just as the Cessna Mustang is. The glass cockpit consolidates all primary flight, navigation, engine and sensor data into easy-to-scan flat panel displays. Located between the flight deck’s two 10.4 inch Primary Flight Displays(PFDs) is a 15 inch Multi-Function Display (MFD) – the largest on any business jet.

Bill, as well as offering M-1 and J-1 visa programs for foreign students. Headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida, where the climate permits flight operations 350+ days a year, the school has been in continuous operation since 1972.
